The ocean, a new source of energy

Long is the debate about green energies, the exploitation of new energy sources, and new ways of taking care of the enviroment. But, have you ever considered the fact that you can use the chemistry of the ocean to have a new energy source?

Well, this is something that is already being tested and used in different vehicles in the U.S. Navy. Aircraft carriers in The United States are powered by two different sources, and obviously one of them is oceanic water. 89

But, how does this work?
Well the ship takes the hydrogen present in the ocean water and in turns it into fuel. This fuel can be used for all the energy requirements that this kind of ships may have.

Having this kind of energy source for this gigantic vehicles is a big advantage in military terms because these ships are completely autonomous and do not need to go back to land to refill the fuel tanks.

Even though it is a very good inovation in terms of energy, by the time, it is a very expensive one.

Yet, a discovery like this one, can change radically the debate about energy sources and over time, we might be obtaining the necessary energy for our lifes from the sea. 111
