Let’s have fun! I mean… clean the water!

“Don drink too much!” It’s a common phrase said for those who don’t like alcoholic drinks, but what would you say if you had the perfect excuse to drink whisky? Today, you can answer: “I’m cleaning the water”

Researchers from the University of Aberdeen, have developed a new technology based in the use of the by-product of Scotland´s national drink that might be used to clean the water from its pollutants. Based on the fact that the contaminants present in the liquid need a special treatment that might result with expensive costs, they created this “DRAM” (Devise  for the Remediation and Attenuation of Multiple pollutants) which has been qualified as a quicker and more effective clean-up technique.

According to Dr. Paton words: "Currently we are using the by-product of Scotland's most famous export but our technology can utilize other by-products from the food and beverage industry”. This means, that the process of  purifying the water is a major issue for the global market and worry in all the planet that Scottish are trying to make accessible with the use of other natural resources in order of it to be cheaper and more effective. In fact, the percentage of success of the DRAM has reached a 99,96% so far, only used with the by-product of whisky.

Did you ever think about the possibility of using “wisky” for saving the water? Are you interested in trying the cleaned water, or does the procedure results threatening? Would you consider the process as a real treatment, or just as marketing strategy?
