Let’s have fun! I mean… clean the water!

“Don drink too much!” It’s a common phrase said for those who don’t like alcoholic drinks, but what would you say if you had the perfect excuse to drink whisky? Today, you can answer: “I’m cleaning the water”

Researchers from the University of Aberdeen, have developed a new technology based in the use of the by-product of Scotland´s national drink that might be used to clean the water from its pollutants. Based on the fact that the contaminants present in the liquid need a special treatment that might result with expensive costs, they created this “DRAM” (Devise  for the Remediation and Attenuation of Multiple pollutants) which has been qualified as a quicker and more effective clean-up technique.

According to Dr. Paton words: "Currently we are using the by-product of Scotland's most famous export but our technology can utilize other by-products from the food and beverage industry”. This means, that the process of  purifying the water is a major issue for the global market and worry in all the planet that Scottish are trying to make accessible with the use of other natural resources in order of it to be cheaper and more effective. In fact, the percentage of success of the DRAM has reached a 99,96% so far, only used with the by-product of whisky.

Did you ever think about the possibility of using “wisky” for saving the water? Are you interested in trying the cleaned water, or does the procedure results threatening? Would you consider the process as a real treatment, or just as marketing strategy?

Words, thoughts, and emotions affect our DNA

There is an entirely new field in medicine called psychoneuroimmunology that studies the effects of our thoughts, emotions intertwined with the bioquimics, thus the DNA appliances which are fields intimately related with bioquimics.

The brilliant Japanese scientist Masaru Emoto unveiled shocking evidence which proved that thoughts, words, emotions, and even music modifiy directly the DNA. In the trial he conducted, water was displayed to verbal exposure and then frozen. Words with mean influence such as, “I will kill you, you make me sick,” (figure 2) and words of love and appreciation; “I love you; you are great,” (figure 1). The results were the following:

Taking the examples presented into account, Masaru stated that each thought, emotion, or word acts as a form of vibrational wave modifying each particle of water. Then, if each particle of water changes so drastically, there is no wonder that our bodies, when containing 90% of water, changes too in accord to several influences, whether they may be emotional distress, bad thinking, verbally mistreating something or someone, or even listening to the malevolence that some music posses. it will therefore affect directly your DNA structure as well as your physique. For instance, depression, tooth decay, weight lose, reduced anti-body defenses, allowing other diseases to harm your immune system.

Having said that, how much self awareness does people posses when knowing how far actions and sentiments might modify them? Are you willing to embrace a positivist lifestyle or would you keep trashing yourself?

Water Fluoridation: benefit or risk?

The addition of a fluoride compound to a public water supply for the purpose of reducing tooth decay is known as water fluoridation. This practice has been introduced in many countries, such as Brazil, Australia, the U.S., and Vietnam. Our country is not the exception. According to the Oral Health Department of the Chilean Ministry of Health, 70.5% of the Chilean population has been receiving fluoridated water. Nowadays, there is a controversial environment surrounding this topic. Many dental organizations support water fluoridation; however, some others reject this practice whenever it is proposed.

The controversy came up from ethical, moral, political, and safety concerns. Opponents all over the world argue that this practice:
• It is a form of obligatory mass medication. The consent of all people cannot be reached, and water supplies cannot control the amount of fluoride that every single person receives. In UK, the Green Party considers water fluoridation as a violation of Article 35 of the European Charter of Fundamental Rights, which it is about Health care.
• It can cause dental fluorosis. Scientific evidence proves that water fluoridation can alter the tooth development on children; however, the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council posits that this effect is just cosmetic and it doesn’t represent any risk for people’s health.
• It is considered to be unsustainable. This practice is really expensive and can have impacts on the economy of the countries. The Canadian Green Party claims that water fluoridation is not effective enough to accept the costs.

Although all the statements against it, water fluoridation is widely used. So, Should we be against, or for this practice? Is it really necessary?
